This vintage Rolex Datejust recently made its way across my bench. It hadn’t been serviced in some time and was showing its age!
The crystal was badly damaged but the case itself was in OK condition, however, the customer chose to have it polished, as an updated look was more important to them than originality.
The movement and seating for the gasket in the case back showed evidence of a hard life.
Another before shot of the base movement before cleaning.
After some serious elbow grease and the help from my trusted Elma cleaning machine the movement was looking a lot better after cleaning and assembly.
I managed to clean up most of the corrosion around the case back.
The case was polished and crystal changed.
A very satisfying end result.
